I'm Karen, a queer artist and tattooist running my own tattoo studio in Brighton, and creating prints, products and apparel from my apartment.

I created these designs to raise funds for Palestine. You can get them tattooed to support Palestinians and show your solidarity
This project started in May 2025, born out of a desire to do something for Palestine. So far, it has gotten more interest than I could have ever hoped for, and it has been reassuring, empowering and heartwarming to see how many are drawn to this idea. It has become a way for people who feel mostly powerless, to express their care for Palestinians, provide financial support, and share meaningful conversations. / Yes! If you can't come to me in Brighton, you can get these designs tattooed by any tattoo artist of your choice, anywhere in the world. Here’s how:
1 / Go to the shop section of my website insacioustattoo.com/shop and buy a tattoo pass. A tattoo pass gets you permission to have my design(s) tattooed by another artist
2 / Contact a local tattoo artist of your choice and ask if they can tattoo the design(s) for you. Not everyone is open to tattooing designs that aren't theirs, so it's good to ask before booking an appointment with them

/ A tattoo pass gets you consent to have my art tattooed by another artist
/ A tattoo pass costs £50 per design, £40 of this is donated to Palestine
/ Please get a pass for every different design you want tattooed
/ The tattoo pass is only meant for those who want to get my “Palestine designs” tattooed but can’t come to me in Brighton
/ Once you’ve purchased the tattoo pass(es) for the design(s) you want, you can download a PNG file with the “Palestine designs” which you can give to your chosen tattoo artist
/ You can show your tattoo artist your payment receipt to show how many designs you got permission for
/ Your tattoo artist will charge their own price for your tattoo appointment. The pass buys you permission to get the design(s) of your choice tattooed, it does not pay for the tattoo itself

/ You can ask any tattoo artist, although of course it is up to them personally to decide if they would like to tattoo a design that isn't theirs + whether their style is suited for the design
/ If you've been tattooed by an artist and had a good experience, that's a good place to start! If they are not available, they might be able to recommend a different artist to you
/ There is a growing list of artists (worldwide!) that actively participate in this project, I will keep an updated list on my Instagram stories, or you can email me to check if I know anyone near you

/ When starting this project I sent the money to bigger organisations like UNRWA.
/ But currently aid seems stuck at the border, and I've gotten to know multiple Palestinians, so I donate to them directly. This allows them to buy what little supplies come in, and distribute it among their families and neighbours. So the money is spent on things like food, baby formula, hygiene products, cooking supplies and rent/shelter
/ If there is a specific organisation or fundraising campaign you would like me to donate your contribution to, please let me know
/ I will reassess the most effective way of donating as the situation in Palestine changes
/ Receipts are posted to my Instagram stories, but you can also request them from me personally
When it comes to tattooing, my preference is black line work in a minimal, abstract and organic style, designed beforehand, or fitted uniquely to your body by drawing directly on the skin.
All my tattoos are done by hand, meaning I do not use a machine. It’s how I learned to tattoo and I find it a more relaxed, intimate and comfortable process.
In contrast to my tattoos, I like to incorporate colour in a lot of the artwork I create, combining a minimal but bold palette with the abstract style that I love.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you contact me, please feel free to send me a message at insacioustattoo@gmail.com to start a conversation.
Here’s the information I will need to book you in for a tattoo, the more you can tell me the quicker this process will be.

To complete your booking I require a non-refundable deposit of £50
/ without a deposit you do not have an appointment
/ the deposit goes towards the final price of your tattoo, it is not an extra cost
/ you can transfer your deposit via bank transfer
/ please write your full name as the reference

/ if you cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours notice and you reschedule immediately to another date, you do not need to pay another deposit
/ if you cancel your appointment at any time, your deposit is lost
/ if you reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, your deposit is lost
/ if you reschedule a second time, your deposit is lost
/ if you are more than 30 minutes late for your appointment without contacting me, your deposit is lost
/ if on the day of your appointment you are drunk, hungover, or have a sunburn on the skin you’re getting tattooed, I can’t tattoo you and we’ll have to reschedule, and your deposit will be lost
/ if I have to cancel your appointment and we can’t reschedule to a date that suits you, I will refund your full deposit

/ my prices usually range between £80-300, a day session is £500
/ I want my tattoos to be available to anyone, so if you have a limited budget please let me know, and we can try to find a price that works for both of us
/ the price of your tattoo depends on size, placement and complexity of your design
/ I prefer to agree on a set price beforehand
/ getting multiple tattoos in the same session works out cheaper, as I only have to set up once and usually give a discount
/ during a day session you can get as many tattoos as possible between 11am-6pm, with an hour lunch break
/ you can pay your deposit via bank transfer
/ the outstanding amount must be paid preferably in cash on the day of your appointment, but payment by card is also an option

FLASH (designs I create myself)

/ all my designs are repeatable, meaning I might tattoo the same design on multiple people
/ Please don’t steal my designs. If you would like to get one of my designs tattooed but you can’t come to me, then you can buy it from me and get it tattooed by another artist. Contact me if this is something you’re interested in
/ I am open to tattooing a design made by you, a friend, or another artist, so long as you have bought or been given their permission
CUSTOM (designs commissioned by you)
/ I do custom designs only if I feel your idea suits my style, because I want to be able to execute your tattoo well. If I don’t think I am the right artist for your tattoo, I will try to recommend a different artist
/ I won’t begin drawing until I’ve received your deposit, because I need financial compensation for my time and effort
/ I will send you your design the day before your appointment, I can make some minor changes if needed and I will always make sure there is plenty of time to adjust the design in person on the day of your appointment
/ if you decide you don’t want to get the design tattooed that’s absolutely fine, you are always allowed to change your mind. However, your deposit accounts for my time spent drawing and is therefore non-refundable

Studio Baby is located on the ground floor with no steps or stairs. The studio is spacious enough for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The bathroom features grab rails. There is a semi private tattoo room available if you would like more privacy and less stimulation

/ arrive to your appointment on time (please do not arrive more than 10 minutes early)
/ bring exact cash (total price of your tattoo minus your deposit)
/ bring a valid ID (without proof that you're 18+ I cannot tattoo you)
/ make sure you’ve eaten a substantial meal beforehand and you’re well hydrated, please bring some water and a snack
/ wear appropriate clothing for your tattoo (loose, comfy, dark coloured clothing is usually best, since we need to be able to reach the area you’d like tattooed and ink could get on your clothes), if you’re not sure what to wear, please ask me
/ allow for enough time, I can’t always predict how long your appointment will take, and you can’t rush a tattoo
/ please ask for permission if you’d really like to bring someone along, there’s limited space in the studio
/ there will be plenty of time to adjust the design if needed and find the right size and placement for your tattoo, only once you’re happy with everything will we start tattooing

/ please let me know at any time if you need a break, stretch, drink, different position or anything else, you’re not bothering me, I just want you to be as comfortable as possible
/ I’m always here to chat, but if you’d like to just be quiet that’s no problem at all
/ you’re welcome to listen to music, a podcast, scroll on your phone or read a book to keep yourself busy or distracted
/ we can wear facemasks if you prefer, I am double vaccinated (COVID)
/ you are always allowed to change your mind at any point, there is never any pressure to get something tattooed that you’re not sure about

/ I do all my tattoos by hand, meaning I don’t use a tattoo machine
/ this process takes time, but is generally less painful than a machine tattoo
/ handpoke tattoos are just as permanent as machine tattoos, just the technique is different
/ I love tattooing by hand, I personally find it a more peaceful, personal and therapeutic process
/ I only use black ink

/ I will always ask for your consent before taking or posting photos and videos
/ if I don’t post a photo of your tattoo this might be because I didn’t get a good photo, I’ve lost your photo, it’s buried somewhere in my camera roll, or your tattoo doesn’t reflect the style or project I am currently most interested in doing
/ please know that this doesn’t mean that I don’t like your tattoo! I will only ever tattoo you if I’m confident the design looks good and is placed well.

Aftercare advice varies per artist, you can find my preferred aftercare below
/ wash your tattoo twice a day with warm soapy water
/ pat dry with a clean towel
/ moisturise your tattoo daily with a thin layer of cocoa butter, coconut oil or other tattoo aftercare cream
/ don’t scratch your tattoo or pick at scabs
/ no baths, no swimming and no sun for the first 2 weeks
/ your tattoo should be healed in 2-4 weeks
/ if there are any issues or worries, please seek professional medical advice as soon as possible

I use triple black Dynamic ink, which is vegan.

I’m a self taught artist, born in the Netherlands, but currently based in Brighton where I live with my partner and our four cats.
I began tattooing in 2019 and worked in a few studios in Brighton before setting up my own place, Studio Baby, in 2022.
My tattoos are meant for all bodies, regardless of size or skin tone.
To me tattoos are an act of self care, a way to feel more comfortable in your body, and an opportunity to express yourself.
I do all my tattoos by hand (I don’t use a machine). It suits my style and I enjoy the process.
